Apprentices will be the highest level of training that Anchor and Sail will deliver. Each organisation will run four apprenticeships over the duration of the project, each lasting 18 months. A total of eight people will be part of this apprenticeship programme, achieving City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Marine Construction, Systems Engineering and Maintenance (2463-02). Delivery of these qualifications will be in partnership with the Scottish Maritime Museum in Irvine .

Applications are currently closed for these positions, with our first four apprentices due to start the programme in July. The second round of these be open for application in October 2015, so watch this space.

Hi Dave, no age limit but applications are closed for this round. If you are interested in getting involved in the second round that will be open in about 18months time. In the meantime you are welcome to come in and volunteer, it’s not accredited but there are plenty opportunities to learn boatbuilding skills.
