Looking Back

We’re busy setting up all sorts of things here at Anchor and Sail HQ, recruiting boatbuilders and apprentices left right and centre. In the meantime here’s a beautiful shot by the amazing Kotryna Ula Kiliulyte of one of GalGael’s previous apprentices setting up frames on a 1/6th scale model of a Paul Gartside designed 38′ ketch.

The project was part of the development of Anchor and Sail, and was instrumental in us learning how best to run training programmes in traditional craft. The whole period also helped us to see the value in the intangible heritage as well as the physical assets, it’s in preserving the skills and traditions that the real essence is. If you want to help us keep these traditions alive, think about volunteering with us!
